An evening of eclectic music and a short lecture at the amazing new Midtown Scholar in Harrisburg PA (across from the Broad Street Market), featuring central PA's own alt-folk singer-songwriter Jefferson Pepper (www.americanfallout.com) and Vancouver's Baba Brinkman, literate rap artist with his own spin on Darwin's 'Origin of Species' (www.babasword.com).

|
Pepper's latest cd, 'American Evolution Volume 2' reached # 9 on the Euro Americana Chart and was named "Best Album of the Year" by music critic Malcolm Carter of Pennyblack Music (UK). As music critic Jenni Cole of MusicOMH (UK) sums it up: "One of the first things that strikes you about Pepper's music is not only how timeless it sounds, but how modern it is while drawing so heavily on the past...American Evolution is a phenomenally intelligent album, dressing up it's protest songs in music so beautiful you can't resist, feeding you it's politics in a cup of honey rather than shoving them down your throat."

Brinkman recently won the coveted Scotsman Fringe First Award at the prestigious Edinburgh (Scotland) Fringe Festival. As FringeReview.com states: "Brinkman is an excellent performer, combining the boyish energy of a rapper with the clever wit of a comedian and the intelligence of a lecturer to create an excellent production, which could be a new and exciting art form."The evening will also feature a short lecture by well-known professor of biology, science writer and two-time Colbert Report guest Ken Miller, author of 'Finding Darwin's God' and 'Only a Theory - Evolution and the Battle for America's Soul'. From RichardDawkins.net: "...Properly understood, evolution adds depth and meaning not only to a strictly scientific view of the world, but to a spiritual one, as well. Readers will find this fascinating, very clear, incisive, exciting, and thoughtful. This should sell like Gould and Wilson-brilliant, cutting-edge thinking."
