WAYNE SUPERGENIUS: MADE ALIVE IN YOU
Wayne Supergenius writes the old fashioned kind of song. THe big hook, the unforgettable melody, the crafted solo that many who have been sucked into the dreary world of the image conscious have missed.
THE SUPERSUCKERS: CAN PIPE
Veteran rockers The Supersuckers are a bunch of quality, honest, ass-kicking, hard-working individuals, trying to make our lives a little better through the "evil powers of rock-n-roll." Describing themselves as a human cartoon, they all grew up among the dead-ends and cactus needles of Tucson, Arizona and have known each other since grade school. Their high-octane live shows are the stuff of legend.
ANDREW VLADECK: YOU CAN'T KILL TIME
When one thinks of rock music from New York City, an old banjo and ukelele don't come to mind. Andrew Vladeck started hot-wiring beat-up instruments because he loved their vibe but wanted more juice to play them at clubs in New York. The result combines the modern with the historical, welding an alternative Americana with well-crafted songs that are soulful and playful.
STEPHEN SIMMONS: LAY ON THE TRACKS
Humble and soft-spoken, Stephen at first seems to exemplify his rural, Church of Christ upbringing. As a songwriter however, his vision is much more complex. THe songs on his recording 'Last Call', tell stories of country life's dark side and serve to remind listeners how it feels to stand at the intersection of piety and sin.
ALTERCANA: BEAUTIFUL GIRLS
Altercana is a genre-defying band from Lancaster, PA whose eponymous sound links Minneapolis to Nashville to Austin by way of the long, lonesome highway. From bombastic, fall-down rockers to haunting two-steps, Altercana is driving to a new dwstination for rock-n-roll.
TRESPASSENGERS: WHO'S NEXT
Drawing on such diverse influences as The Eels and Camper Van Beethoven, Trespassengers combine a modern sonic texture with song writing generally associated with the singer-songwriter format. This music isn't brazen or over-the-top, just a few chords strung together that stick in your head; the kind of songs that you find yourself whistling days later.
THE DEADBILLYS: BLOODY MARY MORNING
Santa Barbara, CA's Deadbillys started in early 1999 with their own variety of "voodoo country", a genre that ranges from Johnny Cash and the Misfits to Merle Haggard meets the Cramps.
EDDIE SPAGHETTI: SLEEPY VAMPIRE
As the frontman for The Supersuckers, Eddie Spaghetti is known for his hard-rocking, balls-to-the-wall approach to music. This stripped-down, acoustic version of Sleepy Vampire is an interesting stylistic departure...the dude's versatile. Be sure to check out Eddie's excellent new album 'Old No. 2'.
SLIMFIT: LONG TO BE BACK HOME
Formed in February of 2004, Slimfit is a roots rock outfit hailing from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the homw of America's only backelor president. For information regarding the band, it's bachelor status or it's presidential candidacy, consult www.slimfit.us. Thanks.
